Gradans light focusing polymeric optical elements with parabolic distribution profile of refraction index
The gradans developed for use as matching units in fiber-optic communication circuits, for optical valves in light guide engineering, in objectives, lenses etc.
The gradans are made of new polymeric optical material based upon cross-linked styrene copolymers. The gradans have the following advantages in comparison to traditional inorganic and polymeric analogs:
- Considerably shorter production time and simplier manufacturing equipment.
- Synthesized semi-manufactured articles are readily fit for machine processing and grinding.
- The products have high radiation stability and weatherability.
Basic characteristics:
- Refraction index gradient – 0,02-0,05
- Numerical aperture – 0,25-0,40
- Linear aperture, mm – 3-20
- Quarter-wave length of Gradans, mm – 10-100
- Focal spot at full linear aperture, micron – 28-57
- Diameter, mm – 5-20
The optical elements with parabolic distribution profile of refraction index based upon cross-linked styrene copolymers may be used for support elements in multimode fiber-optical lines in data transmission systems, for forming optical beams in high-speed opened communication lines units, and also for data collection and transmitting in optoelectronics.
