Scientific Research & Development Division of OAO Plastpolymer is the leading institution in branch responsible for creation and development on a modern technological level of 4 polymerization plastics groups:
- polyolefines, including olefines polymerization catalysts and initiators;
- fluoropolymers, including their processing in articles;
- polystyrene plastics, including ABS-plastics;
- polyvinyl acetate polymers, including vinyl alcohol and polyvinyl butyral.
R&D Division has 124 employees, among them:
- 3 doctors of sciences;
- 24 candidates of sciences.
The research and development institute and experimental pilot facilities are going into structure of R&D Division.
R&D Division of OAO Plastpolymer ensures full-scale execution of tasks on creation new polymerization plastics, engineering and implementation of progressive technological processes, involvement in creation of new and reconstruction of existing production plants.
Practically all known in the country assortment of polymerization plastic is developed in R&D Division of OAO Plastpolymer, on his developments the series of industrial scale polymer production plants are created, for example, of low density polyethylene, impact-resistant polystyrene and ABS-plastics on a method of incomplete conversion, vinyl acetate and polymers on its basis (vinyl alcohol, polyvinyl butyral etc.).
Moreover R&D Division works intensively on creation of fluoropolymer products for special industry branches, and also participates in execution of the major state programs.
R&D Division has pilot and laboratory plants for study of polymerization processes kinetics, structure and properties of polymers supplied with unique devices (for example, Fourier IR-spectrometer, for X-ray spectrometer, colorimetric devices for element composition analysis etc.). All these computerized devices provides multifactor study of various polymerization processes. The testing center carries out composition analysis of polymers, selection of domestic and foreign analogs, tutoring of chemical industry specialists to methods of quality control.
One among the diverse development directions is the creation of compounds on the basis of polymers of OAO Plastpolymer profile.
The tactical and marketing studies for definition of an optimal type of polymer products, methods and volumes of production are carried out.
Experimental and pilot facilities of R&D Division works widely on production of fluoropolymer films and tubes, low and high density polyethylene and polypropylene pipes, films and injection molded articles, suspensions, adhesives and varnishes.
R&D Division:
- renders the consulting and information services connected to making and issuing of the price-lists, catalogs on polymers developed and produced by R&D Division;
- takes part in domestic and foreign exhibitions with advertising of own products;
- works out technical specifications and GOST standards on polymers and polymer products.
Most perspective developments of R&D Division
- formulations, technique and production of vibration damping materials with wide temperature and frequency ranges of efficient damping;
- polymer dielectrics (
= 15 ± 25) for electroluminescence light sources. - structural adhesives (adhesion to metal > 10 MPa);
- perfluorinated ion-exchange materials of new generation for membran technology, water treatment and generation electrical power.
- wide assortment of competitive, high types of expandable polystyrene, ABS-copolymers, high impact-resistant polystyrene;
- full-scale studies in the field of thermoplastic fluoropolymers, beginning from search studies on synthesizing of new materials upto their processing to articles with production of films, tubes, antifriction and corrosion-preventive coatings and other articles for different industry branches;
- advanced engineering plastics on the basis of polystyrene;
- high performance temperature and light resistant and colored pipe grades of polyethylene of new generation (PE-80 and PE-100), including for gas pipes;
- application technique of plastic sealing products for special branches;
- new high efficient catalysts for production of advanced HDPE types.
